SAP announced SAP Pay on October 6, 2026, adding payment execution and reconciliation directly inside SAP Cloud ERP. The product is powered by Tereina, an SAP-backed payments company. A day later, Tereina and Circle announced a partnership that makes USDC available to eligible SAP Pay customers and sets out an EURC option for euro-denominated activity.

Payment execution stays inside Cloud ERP

SAP says SAP Pay can execute and reconcile a payment in the same workflow when an invoice is due. The design is intended to reduce manual file handling and the need to move between an ERP system and separate payment tools.

The product does not remove enterprise controls. Circle's SAP Pay page says the stablecoin rail works alongside existing banks and payment rails, with established permissions, approvals, reconciliation and reporting. Access to USDC requires an eligible Circle Mint account and remains subject to regional availability.

USDC is available; the broader programme is still developing

Circle describes USDC as the preferred stablecoin for eligible US-dollar workflows in the Tereina partnership. EURC is the stated option for euro-denominated activity. Circle also says the integration is available to SAP customers through SAP Pay.

That availability should not be read as evidence of a completed customer deployment in every market. Tereina and Circle plan joint proof-of-value programmes with customers over the coming months, and neither announcement names a customer that has completed a stablecoin payment through SAP Pay. Pricing, corridor coverage and implementation volumes are also undisclosed.

The launch is embedded, not autonomous

SAP introduced SAP Pay as part of a broader autonomous-enterprise programme, but the payment product itself remains governed by enterprise approvals and controls. The announcements do not establish that an AI agent can independently authorize and execute a payment without human or policy approval.

The practical change is narrower: SAP has entered the payments market with an embedded Cloud ERP product, and eligible customers now have a documented route to add USDC settlement to familiar treasury and payment workflows. EURC and wider customer adoption will depend on implementation, eligibility and the planned proof-of-value work.
