Stripe and Plasma Expand Stablecoin Cards Beyond the Dollar
Plasma, as design partner, says Stripe’s stablecoin card infrastructure now supports USD, BRL, EUR, MXN and COP plus OUSD and eligible GENIUS-ready stablecoins in 30-plus countries, with a 2027 plan for 100-plus. The public release is Plasma’s via GlobeNewswire.

Stripe and Plasma announced on October 15, 2026 a collaboration to launch multi-currency stablecoin cards. The announcement was issued by Plasma via GlobeNewswire; a parallel Stripe press release was not located at the time of drafting. Plasma is named as a design partner shaping the card experience for customers whose finances span countries.
Stripe is expanding its stablecoin card infrastructure to support additional fiat currencies and stablecoins. According to the release, supported fiat currencies include USD, BRL, EUR, MXN and COP, alongside stablecoins including OUSD and eligible GENIUS-ready stablecoins. The capability is available in 30-plus countries today, with plans to expand to 100-plus countries in 2027.
What cardholders can do now
A cardholder holding euros, for example, will be able to spend directly in euros without converting through dollars first, the companies said. Businesses operating across markets can issue cards denominated in currencies that match spending needs, which the release frames as a way to reduce unnecessary FX costs.
The launch is described as a first step toward a broader multi-currency experience. Stripe and Plasma said they are working toward enabling cardholders to spend across multiple balances with the appropriate currency selected automatically at the point of purchase. That automatic multi-balance selection is presented as a direction of travel, not as a live feature in this announcement.
Partner framing
“We’re building Plasma for people whose lives and finances span countries,” said Paul Faecks, CEO of Plasma. “Partnering with Stripe gives us the opportunity to develop multi-currency cards around how those people actually live and spend.”
Henri Stern, Head of Stripe Crypto and cofounder and CEO of Privy, said Stripe is working with Plasma “to bring that same flexibility to spending, giving businesses the infrastructure to offer cards across currencies and markets without having to build it themselves.”
Caveats
Plasma is a design partner, not described as an exclusive issuer. The 100-plus country figure is a 2027 plan, not current coverage. No transaction volumes were disclosed. Because the primary public release is Plasma’s GlobeNewswire statement, readers should treat product-scope claims as company-attributed pending any separate Stripe confirmation.
