TerraPay Verify Joins J.P. Morgan's Kinexys Liink Network to Check Bank Account and Wallet Payees Before Cross-Border Payments
Banks and non-bank financial institutions on Liink can now use TerraPay's verification to validate bank account and mobile wallet details before sending. A LexisNexis study estimates 10% to 15% of international payments fail because of incorrect beneficiary details.

TerraPay has integrated its payee verification service, TerraPay Verify, into the Liink Confirm application of Kinexys by J.P. Morgan, the companies said on 22 October 2026. Banks and non-bank financial institutions connected to the Kinexys Liink network, along with TerraPay Verify clients, can now validate bank account and digital wallet details across a broad range of global markets before a cross-border payment is initiated.
The announcement, made from London and Dubai, describes a live integration rather than a pilot. Neither company disclosed commercial terms, pricing or the number of institutions using it.
Why payee checks matter in cross-border payments
TerraPay points to the LexisNexis Risk Solutions study True Impact of Failed Payments 2026, which estimates that 10% to 15% of international payments fail because of incorrect beneficiary details. LexisNexis links those failures to settlement delays, higher operating costs and greater exposure to fraud. The figure is LexisNexis's own estimate.
The problem grows as payments move across a mix of bank accounts and mobile wallets, where account formats and naming conventions vary by market. Checking the recipient before the money leaves cuts down on returns, manual repairs and misdirected funds. The companies tie the work to the G20 roadmap for enhancing cross-border payments.
What each side brings
TerraPay Verify now sits inside Liink Confirm, an application on the Kinexys Liink network. Through the integration, Liink participants gain access to TerraPay's bank account and wallet verification coverage, while TerraPay Verify reaches more institutions through the Liink network.
"By integrating Kinexys Liink's Confirm application with TerraPay Verify, we're making it easier for financial institutions and non-bank financial institutions to improve control and help reduce payment fraud throughout the cross-border payment lifecycle," said Paul Atkinson, Head of Kinexys Liink Product at Kinexys by J.P. Morgan.
David Backshall, VP, Payment Partnerships at TerraPay, said financial institutions "need a reliable way to verify recipients across both bank accounts and digital wallets", and that the collaboration extends TerraPay Verify's reach "to more institutions globally".
TerraPay describes itself as a London-headquartered money movement company that connects partners to more than 7.5 billion bank accounts in more than 156 countries, and runs Xend, an interoperability network it says reaches 3.7 billion wallets. Those figures are company claims.
Why it matters
Pre-payment verification is turning into shared infrastructure rather than something each bank builds alone. For Kinexys, which TerraPay describes as J.P. Morgan's blockchain business unit, adding TerraPay's wallet coverage takes Liink checks beyond bank accounts. That matters in corridors where recipients are more likely to hold a mobile wallet than a bank account.
